OBTAINING VISAS

Please note that as a result of the introduction of the new e-payment format by the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Nigeria High Commission has reviewed the procedures for submitting applications and making payments for Visas.

Visa Application Guidelines

Applicants for Visas are advised to apply and make payments for their Visa online at the Nigeria Immigration Service web site and thereafter send supporting documents and payment confirmation to the the Nigeria High Commission Ottawa for processing. Ensure to read the 'General Procedure for Visa Application' below before proceeding. General Procedures For Visa Application:

• Applicants should go to the Immigration Web portal  portal.immigration.gov.ng.

• Under the 'Visa Application Home' section, click 'Apply'.

• Select your Visa type and category from the drop down list. Click continue.

• Click the 'Continue' button to start the application process. Select Canada as the country applying from. Ottawa is the only visa office in Canada.

• Fill the rest of the Visa application form online. Ensure to fill all the compulsory fields in asterisks. Check the 'I Agree' box towards the end of the form. Print a copy of the form then finally click the 'Submit Application' Button.

• From 'Submit Application' button, click on the 'Here' Link to view and print the 'Acknowledgement Slip'

• Click the 'proceed payment' button to pay online with credit card using Google checkout. Click 'Continue'.  

• View a summary of your application, then click 'Proceed' if the information is correct.

• A message will appear to show if your payment was successful or not

• If successful, allow a few minutes to view and print the 'Payment Receipt'

All Visa	Fill and print application forms before submitting at http://portal.immigration.gov.ng Printed Acknowledgement slip, Payment slip and mail with supporting documents. Administrative fee of CAD$20 in certified Cheque or Money order payable to the 'Nigeria High Commission'. NOTE: If expedited service is required, an additional fee of $65 in money order made out to the 'Nigeria High Commission' should be attached with your application. Please allow two to three weeks processing period for all other visa applications.
Visa on Diplomatic/ Official Passport (Gratis)	Submit application online as described above and mail supporting documents to High commission, Ottawa
